Physician Facts:*

Northeastern Nevada Regional Hospital is the sole hospital located in Elko, Nevada. The towns of Elko (population 18,000) and Spring Creek (population 11,000) are only ten miles apart and they are the largest population concentration of the total county (of Elko) whose underlying population is just over 60,000.

In 2007 the number of surgeries NNRH performed was Inpatient – 760, Outpatient – 1748, Total Surgeries – 2,504. The current average length of stay is 3 days. Inpatient Admissions – 2,360, OP Visits – 28,037. ER Visits – 20,633 (nearly 60 per day on average).

No HMO presence and modest discounts being sought by commercial insurance payers. There is a relatively small percentage of Medicare (as a percent of the total population) and Medicaid averages about seven percent. The younger population is generally covered by very good insurance plans. Payor Mix - we had almost 50% commercial (3rd party). Low Mal Practice Premiums! 95% receivables on billed charges!

• A Management Services Organization (MSO) is available to physicians who want to remain independent, but who do not want to be bothered with the daily business functions of the practice.
• $350,000 medical malpractice damages cap.
